House sales increased by 1,5 percent in May compared to same month last year

House sales in May 2017 increased by 1.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 116 thousand 558. In house sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 20,489 houses sold corresponding to 17,4%. This was followed by 12,131 houses in Ankara corresponding to 10,8%  and 7,121 houses in İzmir, 6,1 percent of total sales.

In Turkey, mortgaged residential sales increased by 17,8% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 41 thousand 738. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 35.8%. Regarding mortgage sales, Istanbul reaized 7,118 housing units and took first place with 18,4% share.

The number of houses sold for the first time in Turkey decreased by 5.5% compared to the same month of the previous year and was 52 thousand 976. The first sales share in total housing sales was 45.5%. Istanbul had the highest share with 9129 houses and 17,2%, followed by İzmir with 4,195 and Ankara with 2,936 houses sold.
