A “delivery to address” tender has been opened for the installation and operation of loop anchorage and buoys in four bays in Gocek in the Fethiye district of Mugla.

The tender issued by the “Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change” was announced a week ago. According to non-governmental organizations, a project aiming to get “unearned income” (rant, in Turkish) is in question.

Within the scope of the tender, 99 loop anchorages and 59 sea surface buoy systems will be installed in Osman Aga Bay, Daily Bay, Horn Bend and Ince Burun for boat mooring purposes. The operating period is 10 years.

A deputy from Mugla region said on the day of the tender: “There are natural and archaeological sites in the area where the tender was made. There have been no studies on the rating of these areas. The bays are a legacy that we will leave to future generations. Therefore, bays cannot be approached with a “use-and-throw” logic. Our bays should be evaluated with long-term, environmentally friendly, public interest-oriented projects. This is only possible with the participation of local governments, NGOs and chambers.”
