Intercity bus tickets see biggest price hike in June in Turkey

According to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce data, the price of intercity bus tickets increased the most in June, while tomato prices saw smallest increase with 37.71 percent.

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce announced Istanbul inflation, in June 2022. Accordingly, inflation in Istanbul increased by 4.03 percent on a monthly basis. Annual inflation rose to 94.2 percent. This is the highest rate in the last 24 years.

Accordingly, the retail price of 109 of the 242 products included in ITO’s Istanbul Wage Earners Livelihood Index increased, the price of 23 products fell, and the price of 110 products did not change.

In June, the intercity bus ticket price, which is included in the transportation and communication expenditures group, was the item with the highest increase with 33.08 percent.

Other products experienced an increase in price were tea with 27,86 percent from the food group expenditure, living room set with 27.66 percent from household group and price of natural gas cubic per cubic meter with 24,79 percent from housing expenditure group. Also sausage and milk incurred price increase corresponding to 20.27 and 20.69 percent respectively.
