Istanbul’s Galata Tower hosts more than 15 thousand visitors in one week after renovation

It is reported that 15,685 people have visited the historic Galata Tower in a week following the restoration by the Ministry of culture and Tourism which ended only a week ago. The Culture and Tourism Minister Mr. ERSOY had inaugurated the historic tower last week after which visitors were observed to flood the place despite strict epidemic measures.

1687 people visited Galata Tower, one of the oldest towers in the world, which reflects the deep traces of history from the Genoese to the Ottoman Empire, on the day of the opening by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. On the second day, 1749 people came to the Tower, which is often described as the viewing terrace of Istanbul and can be visited by Müzekart. The number of the third day visitors to Galata Tower which began to welcome more and more visitors every day, became 1819. The number of visitors to the Tower increased by two fold at weekends and became 3,225 on Saturday and 3,158 on Sunday.

The Tower which was converted into a museum, currently serves as a museum only with additions such as restaurants removed.

On the other hand, visitors to the Tower which takes its guests on a historical journey through the exhibition area from past to present, are allowed in with strict measures against covid-19. After the outbreak, daily visitor figures are expected to exceed 4 thousand in Galata Tower, where social distance and mask use are paid attention to, strictly.
