After 7 deaths in Kırıkkale, and 17 in Izmir more poisoning news came from Mersin, Istanbul, Muğla. 5 people died in Mersin, 1 in Istanbul and 2 in Muğla. Since Friday, the number of people killed by fake drinks has risen to 32. A large number of people who allegedly drank fake drinks in various districts of Izmir were hospitalized with nausea and loss of vision. Another 4 people died from fake drinking in Urla and Ödemiş districts. In Izmir, the number of people who died due to fake alcohol has risen to 17, while 18 people are being treated. Seven of the 11 people who were poisoned by fake drink last Friday in Kırıkkale died.

A news came from Mersin where five people who had drunk fake drinks died, while eight people who were in danger of life were treated in intensive care units of various hospitals. Three of the four suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, the Police Department said.

The number of people killed in the three cities has risen to 32. On the other hand 33 people are being treated.

They mixed disinfectant with aroma

Kenan Işler, President of the Eskişehir Regional Representative Office of the Chamber of Chemical Engineers, made important statements about the increasing deaths due to fake alcohol use. Methyl alcohol is an industrial product, he said:

– Drink poisoning, which leads to death and neurological damage, has become a common social problem over the past 10 years. During the epidemic, they tried to produce alcoholic beverages by mixing aroma with disinfectant, which is often used as a surface cleaner. This led to deaths and poisoning of many people.

– The current situation regarding the production, consumption and pricing of alcoholic beverages should be seriously reviewed. The production and use of fake drinks seriously damages our citizens, the environment and the country’s economy. Methyl alcohol is a product for industrial use. It is strictly prohibited and cannot be used as input in the production of foodstuffs.
