Joint statement from six-party table: “We are ready for elections”
The leaders of Turkey’s six opposition parties met at the IYI Party Headquarters Dec. In the joint statement of the leaders, while the message “We are ready for the 2023 election” was given, it was underlined that it was not possible for President Tayyip Erdogan to become a candidate. The six-party table consisting of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, IYI Party Chairman Meral Akşener, Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, Felicity Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu and Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal met for the 11th time hosted by IYI Party.
A joint text was published after the meeting. The statement celebrated the laylat al-raghaib and condemned the Koran burning incidents in Sweden and the Netherlands saying “We consider the ugly attacks on our holy book, the Holy Quran, in Sweden and the Netherlands as a hate crime and strongly condemn the governments that condone them. During this period, when our people will go to the ballot box with their free will and determine the fate of our country, we are also carefully monitoring the provocations that coincide with every election period in the outside world for some reason.”

Our people see the hope of achieving the prosperity our country deserves and democratization again in the unity of the six parties. This also imposes a historical task on us. We know that this is Turkey’s fateful choice. Our people have entrusted their lives, property, future, and the hope of breathing in a civilized, free and prosperous Turkey to us. Our people can rest assured, the six parties will complete this task properly. We announce once again that; The 13th President of the Republic of Turkey will be the candidate of lovers of democracy as well as fundamental rights and freedoms. The 13th President of Turkey will be the candidate of the Nation’s Alliance who says “Enough is enough, it’s time the nation speaks, now”
