Turkey’s Inflation increases in February 2021

TurkStat has announced January inflation figures. According to TurkStat data, inflation increased by 0.91 percent in February 2021 while it was 15.61 percent year-on-year.

According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.91 percent month-on-month in February and the domestic Producer Price Index (Yi-PPI) increased by 1.22 percent. Annual inflation was 15.61 percent in consumer prices and 27.09 percent in domestic producer prices.

Consumer Price Index increased by 0.91 percent in February compared to the previous month and by 2.60 percent compared to December of the previous year. It increased by 15.61 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 12.81 percent compared to the twelve-month averages.

The lowest annual increase was in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco group at 2.87 percent.

Other main groups with low growth compared to the same month of the previous year were education with 6.13 percent, clothing and footwear with 6.31 percent and communication with 7.15 percent, respectively. In contrast, the main groups with a high increase compared to the same month of the previous year were household goods with 23.74 percent, transport with 22.47 percent and various goods and services with 20.61 percent, respectively.
