Kadir Topbaş, mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality resigns

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Kadir Topbaş has announced that he has resigned from his position. In his farewell speech Topbas said “One cannot forgive being ignored/despised” and announced his resignation. Kadir Topbaş also added that he was always in awareness that this title he had carried for three consecutive terms was only temporary.

Other important comments made by Topbaş in his farewell speech was as follows:

– Error and betrayal cannot be confused.
– I always regarded this duty as temporary.
– I am not leaving behind a municipality in debts.
– One can forgive everything but not being ignored.
– I am quitting my job, but not my party.
