Karagöl … A dream like natural beauty in Artvin, Black Sea region
KARAGÖL (black lake) is a landslide embankment lake located 25 kilometers north of the Şavşat district of Artvin in the Black Sea region of Turkey.
It was formed by the accumulation of water in a bowl as a result of the landslide mass breaking off the slope and blocking the valley. The surface area of Karagöl is 5 hectares and its deepest point is 33 m and the lake water is slightly alkaline.
