It is reported that luxury tent areas will be created for the Qatari rich people to set up Arab tents based on the law proposal which opens up forests, pastures, plateaus and sites for this purpose.

The law proposal brought to the Parliament by ruling party deputies under the name of “promoting tourism” is interpreted as an attempt to open natural (protected) areas to usage of rich Qatari citizens as luxury tent areas. It is also claimed that the provisions contained in the law proposal, which envisage the creation of “luxury tents” for tourism purposes in coastal and natural areas, were prepared at the request of the Qatari rich.

The law on “the promotion of Tourism and the proposal for amendments to some laws” have been discussed in the Public Works, zoning, Transport and Tourism Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. CHP Mugla deputy who took part in the commission, said that the law proposal contained the article “any place of the districts that are located on the coast of the Sea is defined as a tourist area by the Ministry of Tourism, and luxury tents can be installed there.”

The deputy added that the phrase “luxury tents” described luxury tent places that would be created for the Qatari rich. The deputy made the following criticisms:

“I am a deputy from the Aegean region. By bringing luxury tent tourism to our places, setting up luxury tents, will you have Qatari Arabs live in a cool climate? Looting of forests, looting and cutting down of trees means the degradation of the ecology there.”
