Abant Lake, a destination offering different beauties in four separate seasons
Abant (Gölü) is a freshwater lake at an altitude of 1328 meters from the sea, surrounded by pine forests. Its deepest point is 18 meters, only. Most visitors describe it as a paradise with natural beauty where one can breathe fresh air (and the feeling of freedom) far away from the chaos of big cities.
Abant Lake which has a wide-spread reputation all over Turkey (as well as abroad, even) exhibits four different natural beauties in four seasons, offering an unparalleled experience of visual feast in autumn, in particular with plenty shades of yellow leaves before wearing its whites on top of green Abant certainly fascinates nature lovers with his provocative beauty.
The area is covered with forests and pine, fir and beech trees offering a most pleasant atmosphere. The pleasure of touring around the lake, which is about 6.5 kilometers, is another source of enjoyment. Those visiting the area can take walks around the lake whose shores are surrounded by reeds covered with lotus flowers, breathing clean mountain air whereas some prefer to cycle around it.
Abant Lake, where delicious trout exist and angling are enjoyed, is quite rich in plant and animal species. Aside from birds, squirrels, otters, there is also a deer farm in the area.
After having a nice walk around or jogging, the taste of outdoor picnics is very rewarding at spots prepared for this purpose.
When the surface of the lake does not freeze in winter, the lake also has the opportunity to travel by water bike and boat. In winter, a tour of the lake is carried out by sleds drawn by horses, and every month of the year, you can drink coffee or tea in country casinos, cafes, and relax or meet the need for food.
