PM Erdogan holds his second public meeting in Istanbul

Recep Tayyip Erdogan adressed a big crowd of AKP supporters in a meeting at Kazlıçeşme in Istanbul, on 16th June 2013. The meeting was named “Let’s spoil the big game and write history”.

Erdoğan started his speech commenting “If international media want a picture of Turkey, the picture is here” adding the international media, CNN, Reuters, BBC should hide this picture too (sarcasm) and  said “Hundreds of thousands here are not like the vandalists with molotov-cocktails in their hands”. Erdoğan went on to say “International media is alone with their lies”

Regarding Gezi Park and barracks Project at Taksim he said “Even if the court takes a decision against us, we will still hold a plebiscite for Taksim Gezi Park”.

He said, “They cheer us from the boats on Bosphorus, saying they are by our side not only at Gezi but everywhere” and emphasized that they would identify social media provocators one by one. He asked the crowda “What are the foreigners coming from various places of the world doing in Taksim?”

Regarding EP’s decision about incidents in Turkey, Erdoğan said “Turkey is not a nation that would be punished by a parliament incapable of recognizing Turkey”.

He asked the question, “those who try to destroy public order are called Capulcu”(Chapuller. Aren’t they capulcu, then?” and added “Those who have been terrorizing for 18 days will pay the price within the boundaries of law”.

Erdogan also said “First, they attacked the building of AK Party in Ankara and then killed 53 in Reyhanli town. Now, they have appeared in Gezi Park”.

The PM said “This country is not just an ordinary land. You can not hold a rally whereever you wish. You can, where it is allowed” and added that clearing Gezi Park was his duty as prime minister.

The prime minister went on to say “I said, evacuate the place otherwise we will do it, whatever the price,” and added that Gezi Park had been evacuated and delivered back to the nation.

Erdogan underlined that no dirty scenario could hurt the Turkish nation and that Turkey was not a country that international media could play games on.

He appealed to the local and foreign press asking them to be honest and ethical and also explained the plans for Gezi Park, “We will construct a city museum at Taksim where 500 trees will stand”.

Erdogan said in Istanbul that those who could not digest Turkey’s development had started destabilizing by using excuses such as environment but they would never succeed and noted, “we came to power by 50 percent of votes but represent 100 percent.”

Erdogan reminded, “In this country, minority cannot dominate majority. On the other hand we will not say “YES” to the domination of majority over minority, either”
