Many price hikes to come into effect in New Year: Real estate taxes, ID cards and passport fees, MTV

Starting from the beginning of the year, the passport fee will increase from 180 TL to 225 TL and the identity card fee will increase from 30 to 37.5 TL. The property tax will be paid with an increase of 18.1 percent.

Starting from the beginning of the year, all taxes and charges from mobile phone to motor vehicles (MTV), from property tax to garbage tax will be increased by 18.1 percent to 36.2 percent. President ERDOGAN had decreased the rate of increase in the Motor Vehicle Tax from 36.2 percent to 25 percent whereas he did not do the same for other taxes.

PASSPORT, DRIVER LICENCE, ID, MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FEES

Passport fees, driver’s license fees and marriage certificates were increased by 36.2 percent with the new communiqués published in the Official Gazette.

PROPERTY TAX, VALUABLE HOUSING TAX , ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANING TAX

Since there is no reduction in the Property Tax applied up to half of the revaluation rate every year, those with a home will pay an 18.1 percent increase in Property Tax. According to the regulation, all owners of houses whose price exceeds 6 million 173 thousand TL will pay “Valuable Housing Tax” at the rate of 3 per thousand. Environmental cleaning tax, also referred to as the cost of wastewater belonging to residential buildings; based on the amount of water consumption, it was increased from 50 cents to 68 cents with a 36 percent increase in metropolitan municipalities per cubic meter and from 38 cents to 50 cents with a 31.6 percent increase in other municipalities. As the environmental cleaning tax is reflected in the water bills, the water bills will swell.

MTV (MOTOR VEHICLE TAX) GETS A 25 PERCENT RAISE

According to SOZCU Newspaper, the amounts to be paid for the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) have also been increased by 25 percent.

STAMP TAX FOR STATEMENTS

The amounts paid for the statements (submitted to tax offices etc) were also increased by 36.2 percent. Those who earn wages, self-employment or rent, who must declare their income to the state with a declaration (statement), will pay 132 TL 30 kurus instead of 89 TL as statement (declaration) fee.
