Message from Greek PM Micotakis to Turkey: No need for another tension in Europe

Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis, referring to Turkey’s recent statements about Greece, said that there was no need for another tension in Europe. Greece and Turkey have been at odds for decades over issues including the continental shelf in Aegean, energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, airspace violations over the Aegean Sea and the Cyprus issue.

Speaking after the tension that has recently risen with mutual quarrels, the Greek prime minister noted that there was already one tension in Europe, there was no need for another.

After his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Athens, Mitsotakis said, “There is no need for any more unnecessary tension. The Greek islands pose no threat to anyone.”

Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis said that Europe should disrupt Russia’s plans to create instability in Europe.
