Minimum wage comment from Türk-Iş Labor Union: Public expectations were not met

Türk-Iş stated that the new minimum wage did not meet the expectations of the public and the labor group were excluded in the decision taken. Türk-Iş President Ergün Atalay had offered 9 thousand liras for the minimum wage to be valid in the new year and announced that they would not be at the table if their offer was not accepted.

President Erdogan had said Atalay would no longer be interviewed for the minimum wage due to this speech, and the meetings would continue with Labor Minister Vedat Bilgin and the President of the Confederation of Employers’ Unions of Turkey (TISK) Özgür Burak Akkol.

Today, the minimum wage for 2023 was announced as 8 thousand 500. Erdogan announced the new minimum wage with the President of TISK and the Minister of Labor. Türk-Iş Chairman Ergün Atalay was not at the table.
