Minister of Health announces amendment in quarantine period
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca has made a written statement saying the quarantine period has been reduced to 7 days in positive cases. The Coronavirus Scientific Board met today at 17.30 under the chairmanship of Minister Koca. Minister Koca issued a written statement after the meeting.
The full written explanation is as follows:
The number of cases is growing. The importance of personal protection has increased. Crowded environments should be avoided.
Our Scientific Committee met with the course of the epidemic, quarantine rules, measures and the vaccination program agenda. The decisions taken at our meeting are listed below in articles.
1. The Omicron variant has caused a significant increase in cases, as expected. The increase in the number of cases has not yet been reflected in hospitals at a similar rate. No significant increase in hospital load was observed in Istanbul, where the Omicron variant is most widely spread. Although there is not enough data to say that the Omicron variant makes people less sick compared to other variants, the current signs do not cause concern.
2. It was decided that it would be appropriate to reorganize the quarantine periods taking into account the current conditions. The quarantine period for positive cases is set at 7 days.
After 7 days, the quarantine period ends for people who have mild or no symptoms.
In case of positive cases, if concerned person takes a test on the 5th day and the test result has turned negative, the quarantine period ends.
Contacted persons are not quarantined if they have received the reminder dose vaccine within the last 3 months or have had the disease. They continue their daily life with the use of masks, following the symptoms.
People who are unvaccinated or vaccinated more than 3 months earlier are quarantined for 7 days, in case of they are contacted. Symptom monitoring is performed. Those who have a test on 5th day with negative result can end the quarantine early.
