Minister of Industry Kacır provides information about upcoming investments in Turkey

Speaking about Chery’s investment in Turkey, Kacır mentioned, “We are in serious discussions with Chery regarding Samsun. We expect its capacity to be at least as large as BYD’s. The investment amount is expected to be close to BYD’s as well.”
Regarding this topic, the Minister also said:
“60% of the electric vehicles sold worldwide were sold in China. Of the 17 million electric vehicles, 11 million were sold in China. Of the 56 million electric vehicles, 30 million were sold in China. BYD produced 3 million vehicles in 2023 and 4.4 million in 2024, with 1 million employees. We have had discussions with BYD, MG, Chery, and Zeeker. BYD has taken its place in Manisa, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report is complete, and the investment has begun. There are no issues. It is a 1 billion dollar investment, and a factory capable of producing 150,000 vehicles along with an R&D facility will be established.”
Regarding Chery’s investment in Samsun, Kacır added, “Our goal is to bring a second investment to Samsun once the first one is completed. We are in serious dialogue with Chery about Samsun. They see that Turkey is a country that moves in a planned manner. We expect its capacity to be at least as large as BYD’s, and the investment amount will be close to BYD’s as well.”
