Turkey which normally receives huge revenues from tourism each year has been trying to use every remedy to make up for the lost business this year due to the epidemic crisis. Turkish government seems to be determined to open tourism channels with all EU countries soonest possible.

Within this framework, now that Germany has classified Turkey as a “quarantine risk zone”, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy are expected go to this country and explain the measures Turkey has taken against the epidemic in tourism sector.

It is a fact that German citizens are among the most crowded tourist groups visiting Turkey and contributing to the country’s foreign revenues.

Based on news published on Turkish media Mevlut Cavusoglu and Mehmet Nuri Ersoy were commissioned by President Erdogan to explain to their German counterparts Turkey’s measures related to the pandemic. The issue was also raised in a recent phone call by Erdogan and Merkel.

The two ministers will stress that treatment will be met if a tourist falls ill in Turkey and will ask Germany to lift the 14-day quarantine period. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca is also scheduled to meet with his German counterpart.
