A reporter for a major newspaper published in Germany, flew to Antalya on holiday like a tourist. The same reporter then wrote that Turkey had taken complete measures against the outbreak.

The report in the paper underlined that the measures taken at Antalya Airport were more strictly enforced than at Berlin Tegel Airport. The details shared by the reporter on the newspaper, was as follows:

It’s mandatory to wear a mask during the flight. Those who fail to comply with the rule are fined between 70 and 700 euros. Passengers who resist wearing masks are being disembarked at the airport where the transfer will take place.

Officials measure fever of all incoming passengers at Antalya Airport. Those passengers with a fever higher than 37.8, are tested for coronavirus at the airport.

During transfers from the plane to the area and from the area to the hotel by bus it is required to leave one of both seats empty.

Instead of serving drinks at arrival at the hotel, customers are given disinfectant for hand cleaning and their temperature is re-measured. All precautions are taken to clean the hotel room as well as the bathroom.

Hotels in Antalya accept half the customer capacity. A distance of 2-3 meters is left between sunbeds on beaches. Hotels no longer have the open buffet application. Meals are served on customers’ plates by gloved and masked stewards”.

The reporter also wrote that 30 hours before his return to Berlin he had a Coronavirus test in a hospital in Antalya and had flown home after the result came back negative. He said “So I did not have to be kept in quarantine for 14 days in Berlin”.

Regarding the flight back home the reporter wrote, “There are no controls at the airport, no warnings. The social distance rule and hygienic measures applied at Berlin Tegel Airport were also poor compared to Antalya Airport”.
