Ministry of Interior sends circular to governorates to take care of stray animals in Turkey

The Interior Ministry has sent another circular to 81 provincial governorates for stray animals that have difficulty finding food because of the new type Coronavirus outbreak. In the circular on “stray animals”, governorates were asked to regularly leave food, feed, food and water at the points identified in the living areas of stray animals such as parks and gardens, especially animal shelters, and to disinfect the living areas of animals and increase the sensitivity of citizens on this issue.

It was stated that with the measures taken by the Ministry so far, it had been targeted to establish social isolation in areas in which people were collectively located to a large extent. It was also mentioned that temporary restrictions had been put into effect at places where food and beverage services such as restaurants, restaurants and cafeterias were served for this purpose.

On the other hand, the circular said coronavirus outbreak had not only effected human life but also the life of stray animals negatively and usual conditions of everyday life and the consumption capacity of food and beverage service at such places had decreased causing difficulties for stray animals to find food.

In the circular, it was asked that governors/prefects and local governments and especially the relevant public institutions together with other organizations should act in coordination to ensure measures for stray animals not to starve.

According to this, food, feed, food and water will be regularly left at spots identified in the habitats of stray animals such as parks and gardens, especially animal shelters. The areas needed will be disinfected and the sensitivities of the citizens will be increased.
