MONKEY POX DISEASE

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 80 cases of monkey pox so far, while 50 cases are still being investigated.

Monkey pox, known as one of the rare diseases caused by an endemic virus, is divided into two types – Congo and West African.

The Congo type of the virus has a risk of up to 10 percent death, while the West African type is known to have a 1 percent death rate in one out of every two cases.

The virus, which is usually transmitted from animal to human and rarely from person to person by close contact, can lead to high fever and itchy blisters on the body.

Because monkey pox is transmitted by large droplets of respiratory secretions and does not cause unspecified illness, it is not expected to spread as much as Covid-19.
