New all-time high records in borrowing rates of Turkey’s Treasury

The Central Bank has continued to keep its policy rate steady at 14 percent, while the Treasury’s 10-year and 5-year bond rates have exceeded 28 percent and risen to an all-time high.

The Central Bank (CBRT) continues to keep its policy interest rate steady at 14 percent, while the Treasury’s borrowing interest rates continue to rise along with inflation and risk premiums.

The interest rate on the 10-year Treasury bond exceeded 28 percent today, which set a record. the interest rate on 10-year bonds was 11.24 percent in January 2010, when they were first issued.

The rate was at 16.98 percent at the beginning of September 2021, before the interest rate cuts began. The interest rate on 10-year bonds increased by more than 1100 basis points over a period of about 7 months.
