New announcement from Erdogan regarding energy prices
We have managed to reverse the process with a policy that we call the Turkish Economic Model. The positive effects of the measures we have taken will become a little more obvious on the daily lives of our people every month. In the 100th year of our republic, we are determined to start the year with a political climate and economy that we will celebrate with pride.
One of the most talked about issues is energy prices. We have increased our total electricity production fourfold. Recently, energy prices have risen all over the world. But this situation doesn’t just pertain to us. This is not just a case for us. At the global level, natural gas prices have increased tenfold, coal prices have increased 5 times, and oil prices have increased 3 times. Therefore, price increases are reflected in daily life at a much higher rate all over the world and in all respects, compared to us.
Turkey is the third country in Europe that offers electricity at the most affordable price to its citizens. Turkey is the country that offers the cheapest use of natural gas to its citizens in Europe. The electricity tariff of CEM EVLERI (alewite worshipping facilities) and non-governmental organizations will be shifted into a housing tariff
At the last cabinet meeting, we provided relief by reducing the lowest tariff from 150 kilowatt-hours to 110 kilowatt-hours. With the decision taken at our meeting today, the limit of up to 210 kilowatt hours will be re-evaluated by the relevant institutions in favor of our citizens.
A similar arrangement will be made for our tradesmen. The electricity usage of non-governmental organizations will also be converted from commercial to residential status. Usage tariff of Cemevler will also be changed from the status of a trading house to a housing tariff.
Natural gas support for 4 million households
The relevant preparations for the natural gas support that we promised earlier have also been completed. We will provide natural gas support in amounts ranging from 400 to 1150 TL to be paid twice a year for 4 million households that meet the criteria.
I have given necessary instructions to prepare a new 15 billion TL support plan that will enlarge the coverage and impact of our Social Security umbrella.
