Number of foreigners with a residence permit surpasses 1 million 300 thousand

The number of foreigners with a residence permit in Turkey has increased by 641 percent since 2005. More than half of foreigners with a residence permit live in Istanbul.

Foreigners who want to stay in Turkey for more than the visa exemption period must obtain a residence permit issued by the “Provincial Migration Administration”. The number of foreigners who have a residence permit, a card on which the identity information of a foreigner and the validity period of the foreigner are included, has increased from 178,964 in 2005 to 1 million 326,503 as of January 7, 2022.
