As Turkey discusses the data shared by the Ministry of Health on the number of cases, Turkey has received both praise and warning from the World Health Organization. The WHO urged all member states, including Turkey, to collect data under the organization’s guidance.

After Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that they had only announced the number of patients showing symptoms, an important statement from the World Health Organization (who) came as the debate about corona virus cases continued in Turkey.

While appreciating isolation practiced by Turkey, WHO has also made a critical call to all member states regarding reporting. The written statement said “Turkey isolates all positive cases of Covid-19 with or without symptoms. This approach is a prerequisite for breaking the transmission chain. At the same time, who has been calling on member states for harmonizing data collection and pandemic response measures within the scope of WHO guidance on this issue.”

“Who has been continuing its negotiations with all member states, including Turkey, to strengthen and develop reporting and data collection mechanisms. In order to stop Covid-19, we plan to bring countries in the region together to address the problems and solutions encountered in order to make data sharing stronger and support evidence-based decisions in the pandemic process,” the statement also said.

The statement noted that Turkey had increased its test capacity in April by three fold as of August and this was appreciated by the WHO. It said the organization also supported Turkey’s strategy to prevent the spread of the virus.

The statement went on to say “This way, it is possible for the health system to reach more people, including people who do not show any symptoms. Individuals at risk, suspicious and possible cases, and close contacts of confirmed cases are prioritized in terms of testing.”

Health Minister KOCA thanked the WHO for its statement appreciating Turkey. He said on his Twitter account “Who appreciated our strategy to prevent the spread of the virus through its press release to harmonize Covid-19 Data Reporting in the European region. Turkey is ready to share its experience in this regard. Thanks to Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe”.
