KILICDAROGLU, leader of CHP (Republican People’s Party) announced during his party’s group meeting that he had closed the door to the motion to be brought to parliament for extension of the mission of Turkish soldiers in Iraq and Syria.

He criticized Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the MHP (Nationalist Movement Party), for supporting the authorization and asked whether he approved of foreign military forces stepping on to Turkish soil.

In his speech, he also criticized the AKP (Justice and Development Party) government’s foreign policy and economic management. He stated, “The Turkish Lira has lost all its value. Turkey has become a country which celebrates “finding borrowed money.”

Referring to Bahçeli’s support for extending the mission of Turkish soldiers in Iraq and Syria, he raised two questions regarding the authorization. He said:

“My first question is this: Your party is named the Nationalist Movement Party, and you say you will support this authorization. Do you or do you not support foreign military forces stepping on to Turkish soil? It’s that simple. My second question to Bahçeli is this: Who are these foreign soldiers? Whom are you inviting?”
