Paragliding is banned in the famous resort of KAS in Antalya

Paragliding, which has been among outdoor sports activities in Kaş (Antalya) for many years, has been banned by the district governorship. The prohibition of paragliding, which is one of the most important activities attracting tourists to Kaş, has negatively affected the city.

This activity has gradually decreased in Kaş over the years due to the fact that it officials did not care much about promoting and developing it. Many paragliding companies and instructors went to Fethiye Ölüdeniz to continue their activities.

The main problem experienced in paragliding, which is one of the most common activities of tourists coming to the city, was the difficulty experienced at the landing site.

BANNED ON JUNE 10

Before the covid-19 pandemic, paragliders used the port alternately with the municipal parking lot. With the decline of the impact of the epidemic, paragliding began again. However, this time the it was started without notification of the routes called notam. Consequently, the landing site problem could not be solved and companies and many veteran pilots went from Kas to Fethiye.

As a result of the mistakes and accidents made by the more amateur pilots who came to replace the ones that left the town, the KAS District Governor banned paragliding on June 10, 2022.

LOOKING FOR A SUITABLE AREA

It will be enough to arrange a suitable landing place for paragliding, which is one of the most basic features of Kas, to start again. For this, paragliding companies said that an area belonging to the Provincial Directorate of Forestry in the Büyükçakıl region was suitable. Negotiations are continuing with the district governorship and the municipality for this area.
