ELECTION POLL RESULTS TURKEY

Nowadays, the word has spread out that there could be an early election in Turkey on Sunday, November 6. Regarding the issue KILICDAROGLU said, “I am waiting for an election in the fall, they cannot cope with the economy any further.”

The atmosphere that prevails in backstage of politics in Ankara is “The government cannot make it through 2022 winter judging on this economic picture. There will be an early election.”

In fact main opposition leader KILICDAROGLU has made the following comment regarding the issue: “I expect to see elections in the fall, they cannot carry this economy, further.”

On the other hand DP (opposition party) leader Gültekin Uysal also said, “The moment the government sees that it will be in its own interest, it can decide on an early election. We are not ruling out the possibility of an early election.”

Regarding the issue CHP Group Deputy Chairman OZEL made following statement: “If the government sees a possibility of falling below 200 deputies in the June 2023 election under increasingly severe conditions, it will hold the election early to prevent it. If the 401 seats of the Parliament are formed outside the AKP-MHP, it means that the door of the Supreme Court is also opened (meaning, for current rulers). They can’t afford it, they can pull the date forward before the conditions get worse.”

360 VOTES OR PRESIDENTIAL DECREE SUFFICIENT FOR EARLY ELECTIONS

Another issue related to the early elections is voiced regarding the 3rd nomination of President Erdoğan.

According to the prevailing constitution, a person can run for the Presidency no more than 2 times. However, if the election is held early, Erdogan can run for presidency for the 3rd  time. According to the new system, 360 votes are required to go to an early election or a presidential decree in that direction.

CURRENT ARITHMETIC IN PARLIAMENT

The current arithmetic of the Parliament does not give any parties and alliances this opportunity of having 360 votes. The AKP has 286 deputies and the MHP has 47 deputies. 27 is missing. However, if the government says ‘Yes’, because the CHP and the GOOD Party also favor an early election, the number will easily reach 360 deputies to vote in favor.
