President Erdogan announces early elections to be held on 24 June 2018

MHP leader BAHCELI stated in his speech at the group meeting of his party yesterday that the early general election should be held on August 26. This call caused great movement in the political arena and excitement in the country. CHP (Republican People’s Party) did not hesitate to challenge this call from the small partner of the alliance (with ruling AK PARTI, as the big partner). President ERDOGAN and MHP leader BAHCELI had a meeting for half an hour at the presidential palace to discuss the necessity and feasibility of an early election.

After the meeting ERDOGAN made a press release and announced they had decided to hold early elections on 24 June 2018.

Following the announcement the US dollar went down to as low as TL 4.0357 and the stock market made an upward movement exceeding 111,000 points with an increase of 2 percent.
