ELECTRICITY BILL IN TURKEY GRADED TARIFF

A new regulation has been made on electricity bills that have put the public and tradesmen in difficulty, most recently.

Making a statement after the cabinet meeting, President Erdogan announced that they had reduced the VAT on electricity used for residential buildings and agricultural irrigation from 18 percent to 8 percent. In addition, the low tariff limit on residential premises was also increased to 240 kilowatt-hours per month.

Erdoğan shared the following:

– We have also clarified the regulation on electricity tariffs that we announced to the public at our last cabinet meeting. VAT on electricity used in residential buildings and agricultural irrigation has been reduced from 18 percent to 8 percent.

– In addition, the low tariff limit in residential areas has also been increased to 8 kilowatt-hours per day and 240 kilowatt-hours per month. Thus, a 14 percent discount on invoices will be provided.

– A 25 percent discount will also be applied to our artisans and craftsmen. Thus, we will ensure that our craftsmen pay 7 billion less annually, in electricity bills.
