President Erdogan makes important statements about earthquake in Turkey, after cabinet meeting
After the cabinet meeting held at AFAD center President Erdogan has made very important statements providing information about plans of the government to recover effected citizens from the damage caused by devastating disaster.
Down below is the information Erdogan has provided in regards:
“We will not leave any of our citizens alone from a material and spiritual point of view. My request from my citizens living in the earthquake zone is that they take care of their cities, districts, neighborhoods, homes, jobs, lives. Together, we will relieve the pain of this disaster and compensate for the losses without getting discouraged.
Our Ministry of Health is making the necessary interventions at this point by distributing them in different hospitals of Istanbul. In the first place, 15 thousand liras per household that has become uninhabitable for relocation and rent assistance between 5 thousand liras and 2 thousand liras. We had announced that we will make 10 thousand liras of support assistance per household.” We are providing 100 thousand liras cash assistance to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the earthquake for their urgent needs.”
100 THOUSAND LIRAS FOR URGENT NEEDS
“We are providing cash assistance of 100 thousand liras for urgent needs. We will also provide additional support to our citizens. As a state and nation, we will not leave any victims oppressed unattended, by joining hands.
Our banking sector has allocated a certain proportion of its 2022 profits, around 50 billion liras as of now, to the earthquake. This amount will be used for work to be carried out for earthquake victims.
We will continue our work until we get the last citizen from under collapsed buildings.
We will rebuild every house and every workplace destroyed by the earthquake or rendered uninhabitable and hand them over to their rightful owners. We are starting the construction of 30 thousand houses immediately as of the beginning of March.”
I AM ASKING MY CITIZENS IN THE ZONE TO HAVE PATIENCE FOR 1 YEAR
“I am asking my citizens in the earthquake zone to be patient for 1 year. Knowing that we don’t have a single minute to lose, we will immediately start construction work wherever the damage detection is completed. Preparations for the new housing and cities to be built in the region have been started by our Ministry of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change and TOKI. Our goal is to complete the construction of a large number of high-quality and safe buildings that will solve the housing needs in the entire earthquake zone within 1 year.
AFAD RECEIVES 8.3 BILLION LIRAS AID SO FAR
“We are using all the aid provided to AFAD at home and abroad, which currently amounts to 8.3 billion liras, for the earthquake zone.
Approximately 638 thousand of our taxpayers will benefit from the force majeure situation, which includes many elements from tax postponements to banking regulations.
We will provide the 10 thousand containers that will be sent from Qatar to the service of those in need with the reinforcements we will make from inside and outside the country.”
NEW DONATION CAMPAIGN TO BE STARTED TOMORROW
“A charity campaign with the slogan ‘Turkey is one heart’ will be organized tomorrow evening at 20.00 in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan.
Cabinet members, as public servants attending the cabinet meeting, we have decided to donate a total of 136 million 589 thousand pounds to AFAD for the earthquake victims.”
