The company, Geneva-based Relief Therapeutics Holdings, has announced that a drug that cures patients with respiratory distress has been included in its rapid approval program for use in the United States. The drug developed by the company is used as a synthetic form of a natural peptide that protects the lungs. The drug, called RLF-100 or aviptadil, is used to treat severe patients suffering from respiratory distress due to the corona virus.

Officials said the drug has been used in 70 patients and is in the second phase of clinical testing.

American media reported that the drug had been used by doctors at Houston Methodist Hospital and cured very severe patients in a very short period of time.

A 54-year-old Covid-19 patient who had two lung transplants but whose body refused to do so was returned to health 4 days after using RLF-100 and released from an oxygen tube, the statement said. It was announced that there were more than 15 similar specimens.

On the other hand, scientists studying the drug at independent laboratories in Brazil found that aviptadil prevents the SARS virus from reproducing in lung cells and the immune system.
