AIR POLLUTION IN TURKEY

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has reached the highest level recorded since the emergence of humanity, this year. In recent measurements, it was determined that the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere had risen to 420 ppm per million, exceeding the previously recorded rate of 415 ppm. Turkey also tops the list of the worst countries in pollution report.

Experts note that 1 billion people worldwide face the risk of premature death due to exposure to air pollution.

Highest pollution

According to source in Turkish media, the beginning of air pollution in the country dates back to the early 1980s. So much so that between 1980 and 1990, there were dramatic air pollution events as a result of poor quality coal use in heating and industry, and concentrations of sulfur dioxide and particulate matter reached record levels due to severe high pressure area, as well.
