ALCOHOL BAN IN BELGIUM

The Belgian government, noting that young people are vulnerable to advertising drinks, has decided to ban advertising in the media aimed at them, as well as restrict its sale. According to BBC Turkish, the new plan prepared by Federal Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke has been approved by the council of ministers.

ADVERTISING BAN WILL BE EXTENDED

According to Vandenbroucke, young people are vulnerable to liquor ads. For this reason, the Belgian minister announced that a ban on advertising would be imposed on media targeting young people.

The ban on advertising for alcoholic beverages will be extended in magazines, newspapers, cinemas where films aimed at children and young people are shown, as well as in digital media aimed at a young audience.

RESTRICTION AT FUEL STATIONS

Starting from the evening, the sale of all types of alcoholic beverages will be banned at all fuel stations in Belgium. The ban will be valid from 22:00 in the evening to 07:00 in the morning.

With the new regulation, alcoholic beverages will not be sold in hospital canteens. It will no longer be possible to buy cold beer or wine from beverage vending machines, but there will be no ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages in hospital restaurants.

The sale of alcoholic beverages to under-16s is prohibited nationwide. People over the age of 16 can buy low-alcohol drinks such as beer or wine. For those over the age of 18, the sale of drinks is free.
