Russian Sputnik V vaccine prooduction in Turkey

The Russian Direct Investment Fund has announced the signing of an agreement with a Turkish pharmaceutical company for the production of the Sputnik V corona virus vaccine in Turkey. It was reported by Interfax news agency that the transfer of technology needed for production had begun.

Russia which is one of the countries that has developed its own vaccine against the Corona virus, continues to make agreements to produce the vaccine abroad. It was suggested earlier that Sputnik V, the first vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institute in the country and widely used, was more than 90 percent effective.

India was the first country other than Russia where Sputnik V was produced. Meanwhile, the Russia Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said in a critical statement announcing that an agreement had been reached with a Turkish pharmaceutical company for the vaccine, which Turkey had long aspired to produce.

TURKEY BECOMES SEVENTH COUNTRY

RDIF announced that the technology transfer for production had started, as a result of the agreement with Turkey. According to the agreement, it was not announced how much production capacity would be.

Apart from Turkey, Russia had previously reached agreements with India, South Korea, China, Brazil, Belarus and Kazakhstan to produce Sputnik V.
