Russia warns: Conflict will be inevitable if NATO troops go to Ukraine

Responding to a question about the risks of NATO members sending their troops to fight in Ukraine, Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov said, “In this case, we should talk not about possibility but about inevitability (of direct conflict).”

In Russia, the Kremlin administration warned that a conflict between Russia and the NATO military alliance led by the United States would be “inevitable” if NATO members sent troops to fight in Ukraine.

MACRON: SENDING TROOPS TO UKRAINE AN OPTION

French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the closing of the support conference for Ukraine, had mentioned that the possibility of European NATO member countries sending troops to Ukraine was among the options, but there had not yet been a consensus reached.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, in response to a question about Macron’s statements, used the expression, “The possibility of NATO countries sending troops to Ukraine is a very important new factor being discussed.”

Russia and NATO’s biggest power, the United States, possess the world’s largest nuclear arsenals. U.S. President Joe Biden had warned that a conflict between Russia and NATO could trigger World War III.

However, a White House official told Reuters that the U.S. did not have plans to send troops to fight in Ukraine and that NATO troops would not be sent to fight in Ukraine either.
