The Lavender Gardens which were established as a result of the work of Safranbolu District Governor and Safranbolu Forest Management Directorate, created a new alternative in tourism after the “historical houses” in the district.

Tourism in the district is developing with projects initiated by government officials in Safranbolu. The new tourism alternative of Safranbolu which welcomes 1.5 million tourists a year with its attractions such as inns, baths, mosques, fountains, bridge and mansions dating from the Ottoman period, will be Lavender Gardens. This flower to be planted under the control of the district governor and Safranbolu Forest Management Directorate is expected to form a new alternative to tourism in the district.

Stating that they were happy that the projects made for Safranbolu were realized in recent days, the Governor said,We have gained a new tourism alternative to our district as a result of the efforts we made before the sapling planting campaign launched across our country. Thanks to our consultations with our institutions and land analyses conducted by our forest management directorate, we have opened the doors of our lavender forest to our people and hope to promote nature tourism, in a way that will be integrated with saffron which has given its name to our district.

It is gratifying to see lavender saplings growing in their first year and developing so rapidly. Hopefully in 3 years it will become a full lavender forest. The lavender Forest which is a first in our district, will be enriched with other aromatic plants, adding recreational value to Safranbolu alongside economy and tourism. We will continue to produce projects for Safranbolu by taking advantage of all the opportunities. Let’s preserve these values together and let’s take care of them. May it serve our people, well“.
