Known for its world-famous “crystal snow,” the resort is introducing modern, high-capacity snowmaking systems to guarantee a smooth and uninterrupted skiing experience, even in years with low natural snowfall.

According to Mehmet Saraçoğlu, General Manager of Kayı Hotels, the new artificial snow systems represent a long-awaited development for both resort operators and visitors. “Sarıkamış is blessed with beautiful crystal snow, but in recent years, due to global warming, natural snowfall has sometimes been insufficient. With these advanced snowmaking machines — mobile, stick, and fan models — we’ll finally be able to ensure perfect skiing conditions all season long,” Saraçoğlu said.

He also highlighted the growing interest in early reservations and emphasized the importance of this investment for the region’s tourism: “Artificial snowmaking was something we truly needed. Now it’s becoming a reality, and it will bring many positive changes. We invite everyone to experience the beauty of Sarıkamış.”

A Major Tourism Investment for Kars and Beyond

The Artificial Snowmaking System Project, managed by the Kars Special Provincial Administration, is expected to extend the ski season by about 45 days. The project includes a massive 95,000-cubic-meter snowmaking reservoir, 64 pole-type machines, and 21 fan-type snow generators, ensuring consistent snow coverage on the resort’s main slopes.

In addition to this major upgrade, work continues on chairlift maintenance, slope adjustments, and social facility renovations. With these improvements, Sarıkamış aims to strengthen its position in both national and international winter tourism markets.
