September 2020 Inflation figures in Turkey announced by Statistical Institute

The Consumer Price Index in September 2020 increased by 11.75 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The product with the highest price increase was eggplant with 18.65 percent. Of the 418 items covered in the index, there was an increase in the average price of 314 items. Inflation, which last fell to single digits in October last year, has been in double digits for 11 months.

September 2020 Consumer Price Index compared to the previous month increased by 0.97 percent. The same figure increased by 11.75 percent as compared to same month of previous year and by 11.75 percent according to the twelve-month averages.

The other main groups with low growth compared to the same month of the previous year were communication with 6.74 percent, clothing and footwear with 6.91 percent and education with 7.55 percent, respectively. In contrast, the main groups with a high increase compared to the same month of the previous year were various goods and services with 25.17 percent, health with 15.09 percent and food and soft drinks with 14.95 percent, respectively.

The other main group, which declined in September 2020, was clothing and footwear with 0.03 percent. In contrast, the main spending groups were household goods with 3.02 percent, transport with 1.84 percent and housing with 0.93 percent, respectively, in September 2020.
