Siemens-Turkerler-Kalyon joint venture group which offered the lowest bid with US$ 3.48 / kilowatt won the Wind Energy Renewable Energy Sources (YEKA) for 1000 megawatt tender organized by The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has concluded a tender for a thousand megawatts Wind Energy Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA). The tender made by under-bidding method was won by Siemens-Türkerler-Kalyon joint venture group which offered the lowest bid of $ 3.48 cents / kilovats. While the Consortium bidded $ 3.49 cents / kilovats for sale, the tender commission demanded that offer should be cut down to $ 3.48.

There was intense competition between MingYang-İlk İnşaat (Constrcution) and Siemens-Türkerler-Kalyon, the last two left in the tender. The winning consortium will build a wind turbine plant with an investment cost of over $ 100 million, with a goal of achieving a 65 per cent domestic rate. 300 to 450 domestic wind turbines each with at least 2.3 megawatts of power, will be produced in the plant.

Consortium will conduct R&D work in a total of 5 areas to include at least 3 of the areas such as wing, generator design, materials technology and production techniques and software and innovative gearbox areas for a period of 10 years.

The establishment period of the plant will be 30 months from the date of contract signing, while the duration of the license will be 30 years.
