METRO LINES CLOSED ISTANBUL

Some metro lines and stations in Istanbul have been closed ‘until further notice,’ according to an announcement from Metro Istanbul.

As of 12:00 on Saturday, November 25th, the Şişhane and Taksim stations of the Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line have been temporarily closed in accordance with a decision from the Istanbul Governorship.

Metro Istanbul’s statement reads: “In line with the decision of the Istanbul Governorship, as of 12:00 on Saturday, November 25th, until further notice, our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line’s Taksim station, Şişhane station, the entrance-exit on Istiklal Avenue, and our F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line will be closed for operation. Our vehicles will continue their route without stopping at Taksim station.”

Note: It was learned in the meantime that this measure had been taken to prevent any protest/demonstrations on “Women’s Day”.
