Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has penned down his predictions on how artificial intelligence will impact our lives. Gates shared following regarding this topic.

‘You won’t deal with software and operating systems’

We use operating systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux on computers, and iOS and Android on smartphones, each excelling in different functions. Similarly, we have different options like Gmail and Outlook for sending emails, and Microsoft Word and Google Docs for writing texts.

According to Gates, these choices will become irrelevant in five years. In Gates’ view, AI-powered assistants will function as an operating system or platform, and we will simply tell the AI what we want to do. The AI will then perform the task.

Gates wrote, “You won’t need different applications for different tasks. You will simply tell your device in everyday language what you want to do. And, depending on how much information you choose to share with it, the software will be able to respond personally because it will have a rich understanding of your life.”

AI will whisper in our ears

Companies are developing various things, including applications, glasses, necklaces, and holograms, for people to interact with AI.

Gates says that AI will now be ‘in our ears.’ According to him, many of us will always have earphones in our ears. Our assistant will whisper to us when needed.

It will become part of our personal relationships

According to Gates, within five years, AI could remind you that your friend’s birthday is approaching, suggest gift ideas, or even ask your friend’s AI what they want. Or, if you want to meet your friend, instead of messaging them, both of your AIs could find a day when you both are available and share it with you.

It could be your therapist

Gates also believes that AI could be our therapist. According to him, therapy sessions are expensive, and many people cannot afford them. According to Gates, AI could develop in a way to offer solutions to personal problems.

According to Bill Gates, within five years, everyone will have a ‘personal assistant.’
