RAIN AND STORM IN ANKARA

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a yellow/orange warning today for 64 cities, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, due to expected heavy rainfall and storms. Today, intense rainfall is expected in the western part of Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, the western and northern parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the southwestern and northern parts of Inner Anatolia.

The rainfall is expected to be strong, very strong, and locally severe in the southwestern part of the Aegean and the coastal areas of the Western Mediterranean. The storm is predicted to intensify tomorrow, causing a sudden drop in temperatures.

According to the latest evaluations by the Meteorological General Directorate: The general weather in our country is expected to be partly cloudy and cloudy.

Rainfall and showers are forecasted for Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Inner Anatolia, and the Central Black Sea regions, as well as the inner parts of the Western and Eastern Black Sea, except for Iğdır and Ağrı, and the northern and eastern parts of Southeast Anatolia.

Showers in the highlands of the Taurus Mountains, the eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, and the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea are expected to be in the form of sleet and occasionally snow.

The rainfall is expected to be strong in the western part of Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, the western and northern parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the southwestern and northern parts of Inner Anatolia. In the southwestern part of the Aegean and the coastal areas of the Western Mediterranean, the rainfall is expected to be very strong and locally severe.

The influence of the rainy air mass, which is currently causing temperatures above seasonal norms, is expected to decrease starting from the western regions.

According to the latest evaluations, the expected showers and thunderstorms in the western regions, starting from the surroundings of Muğla, are expected to become strong (30-60 kg/m2) over time in the western part of Marmara and the general region of the Aegean Coast, including very strong and locally severe (60-100 kg/m2) in the coastal areas of Muğla and the Edremit Gulf. Therefore, caution and precautions are necessary against risks such as flooding, flash floods, lightning, local hail, and the formation of tornadoes.

According to the latest evaluations, starting from the west of Antalya, strong (25-60 kg/m2) showers and thunderstorms are expected in the general province and the southwestern districts of Konya, becoming very strong and locally severe (60-120 kg/m2) on the western coastal areas and the eastern part of Antalya. The precipitation is expected to turn into strong sleet and occasionally heavy snow above 1800 meters. Precautions are necessary against potential risks such as flooding, flash floods, lightning, local hail, the formation of tornadoes, and transportation disruptions.
