Statement from IMAMOGLU about  Ataturk Airport: We will open it after 2023

Ekrem Imamoglu, mayor of Istanbul has announced Turkey’s first “Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan”. At a ceremony held in Istanbul, Imamoglu made statements about the closed Ataturk Airport. He said; “Eventually, we will not allow Ataturk Airport to be wasted. We will include it in the life of Istanbul again, after 2023.”

As expressed by many unbiased experts Ataturk Airport is known to be one of the best airports, in Europe with many advantages over the newly built Istanbul airport. However, the administration has chosen to sort of discard the Ataturk airport which many have found unfair. Obviously, many believed this was a preference made to ensure the newly built (and operated) airport by the consortium close to the government would serve many more passengers.
