Airlines and hotels all over the world have begun to reflect the increased costs in their price tariffs. The developments are causing difficult-to-bare increases in prices. Organizations in Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal draw attention to this point, while pointing to an era when cheap, frequent and fast holidays are coming to an end.

Inflation at a level not seen in Europe for 40-50 years has led to an increase in the costs of enterprises. Record cost increases began to be reflected in prices in the aviation and hospitality sectors. With the developments, it is pointed out that the cheap and frequent holiday period is over.

According to a Turkish newspaper, the end of the cheap holiday period will leave hotels in the Mediterranean region, which is today’s world center of mass tourism, in a difficult situation as well as holidaymakers. Hospitality organizations in Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal draw attention to this point.

“THE PERIOD OF FAST, FREQUENT AND CHEAP HOLIDAYS IS OVER”

Vice-President of a Portugal based hotel group on Portugal’s Algarve coast, told the Financial Times: “The vicious circle of rising energy costs, inflation and higher wage demand shows that holidaymakers should prepare for rising prices for the summer season of 2023. The period of fast, frequent and cheap holidays is over.”
