Taliban make statement saying women’s rights will be respected

TALIBAN STATEMENT ABOUT WOMEN

Announcing that they had entered Kabul from all directions, the Taliban called for women to move to protected areas, stating that safe passage could be provided to anyone who wanted to leave the city.

A statement by Taliban representatives said women’s rights would be respected and women would be allowed to receive education.

Unlike previous practices, the Taliban said women would be allowed to walk alone, work and wear headscarves.

It was announced that former Afghan Interior Minister Ali Ahmed Jalali would head the Taliban-led transitional government.

It is reported by int’l agencies Afghan citizens are very concerned about the new developments despite statements by Taliban.
