Temperatures to Reach 28°C in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir
According to medium- and long-term forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM), temperatures in Turkey’s three largest cities—Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir—are expected to gradually rise to near-summer levels.
Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that “Sunny and warm days will continue throughout next week,” noting that temperatures will reach 25–28°C in Istanbul and Ankara, and up to 30°C in Izmir.
Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms are expected in several southeastern and Mediterranean provinces including Antalya, Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Tokat, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Kilis, Siirt, Batman, and western districts of Mersin. MGM has warned residents in these areas to be cautious against possible adverse effects of the heavy rain.
Some Forecasts:
- Ankara & Istanbul: Highs around 20°C, lows around 7°C in the short term, increasing to 25–28°C by next week
- Izmir: Highs up to 27°C now, expected to reach 30°C soon; lows around 12°C.
Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen also shared on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account that “Weather will start to warm from the west on Sunday,” predicting that all of Turkey will experience near-summer temperatures throughout next week.
