The Eastern Express carries over 35,000 passengers in three months

The Eastern Express and the Touristic Eastern Express trains transported 35,453 passengers in the first three months of the year. Operated by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) Transportation Inc., the Eastern Express and the Touristic Eastern Express trains take passengers on a magical adventure along a route with unique landscapes that lasts 25 hours.

Starting from Ankara, the train follows the route of Kırıkkale, Kayseri, Sivas, Erzincan, and Erzurum, covering a distance of 1310 kilometers before reaching its final destination, Kars.

The reciprocal train services between Ankara and Kars attracted attention even during the Ramadan holiday, welcoming passengers of all ages, especially young people, nature enthusiasts, and photographers, to the Eastern Express and the Touristic Eastern Express, which carried 35,453 travel and adventure enthusiasts in the first three months of the year.

Alexey Rusyaev from Tatarstan, who came to Kars to both ski in the Sarıkamış Ski Center and take a train journey, stated that he wanted to experience both joys together. He said, “We will take the Eastern Express for the first time and go to Ankara. Hopefully, it will be a good journey. The Eastern Express is very famous, we have read a lot about it, and we want to see this beauty for ourselves. We will see Erzurum and other cities from the train.”

Svetlana Shafeeya, another tourist, said, “We will take the Eastern Express for the first time. We came to Sarıkamış to snowboard, and we will go to Ankara by train.”

Melike Nur Çibik, one of the passengers, expressed that Kars was a beautiful city and added:

“The richness and beauty that the Eastern Express brings to the city in terms of tourism are excellent. I experienced it last year; it has a very comfortable journey. Train travel adds an incredible atmosphere, allowing you to see beautiful places unlike traveling by bus or car.”
