NORWEGIAN GOVERNMENT REACTION TO ERDOGAN STATEMENT

The first reaction to President ERDOGAN’s statements over Osman KAVALA and his instruction to declare the 10 ambassadors in Ankara persona non grata, came from the Norwegian government.

President ERDOGAN had used the expression “I gave instructions to declare these 10 ambassadors persona non grata at once” regarding the statement of 10 ambassadors about businessman Osman Kavala, who is detained despite the ECHR decision.

The first reaction to Erdogan’s statement came from the Norwegian government.

As reported by Reuters, Trude Maseide, the Norwegian government’s director of communications, said in a statement, “Our ambassador has done nothing to require deportation.” Maseide also added that Turkey knew the Norwegian view of this case very well.

He went on to say, “We will continue to call on Turkey to comply with the democratic standards and the rule of law that it has committed to under the European Convention on Human Rights.”
