ELECTRICITY OUTAGES IN INDUSTRIAL ZONES

Some sources have denied reports that the flow of gas from Iran has started again. Same sources said “Even if it has started, it is on a symbolic level.” In the meantime due to BOTAŞ’s natural gas restriction, TEIAS announced that it would start power outages. There will be 72-hour outages in organized industrial zones this week.

TEIAS ANNOUNCES POWER OUTAGES

While BOTAŞ’s decision to limit daily consumption to 60 percent has caused serious problems and uncertainties in industrial organizations that heavily use natural gas in production, limiting the gas used in power plants has started to bring problems in the electricity supply.

Turkey Electricity Transmission Co. (TEIAS) announced in a statement yesterday that restrictions would be applied to users except for residential and commercial premises.

The statement included the following statements:

Due to failure at the Iranian side of the natural gas transmission pipeline at the entry point to our country (GURBULAK in AGRI province), natural gas restrictions will be applied at the natural gas combined cycle power plant and restrictions will be applied to the users except for residential and commercial ones, within a program in order to ensure supply and demand balance.

Energy experts warned that intraday power outages and consequently, natural gas outages might be in question in residential buildings in the coming days.

72-HOUR POWER OUTAGE IN OSB ZONES

Recently, after limiting gas in cycle power plants which have a share of about 40 percent in electricity production, power outages began to be widely introduced in organized industrial zones.

To provide an example, Izmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone announced that there would be a total of 72 hours of power outage this week, including 24 hours on Thursday January 27, according to a notification from TEIAS.

Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone Directorate also announced that there would be a total of 72-hour power outage on January 24-25-28.
